Amber and gold

They filled the sky from east to west, floating silently above me. All at once, they relinquished their petals, as if to say, 'Here is a gift from Heaven to earth'. Within each amber petal, lay a sleeping insect, perfectly frozen in time.

All the dust the wind blew high
Appeared like god in the sunset sky,
But I was one of the children told
Some of the dust was really gold.

I have often been likened to a dinosaur. I have been nicknamed Reptar by family (the big green dino from Rugrats).

grounded contemplation

These quotable plaques are embedded in the sidewalk along the way to the New York Public Library, like breadcrumbs on a trail!

...I admit to having enjoyed plenty of bad books of the hour though :)

The last good book of all time that I read, on the train from LA to San Diego was, in fact, a "children's book". It is called Bridge to Terabithia and is written by Katherine Peterson.

It was brilliant and heartbreaking, made me weep, and yet fullfilling. That, I think, is the mark of a good book. I find it disturbing that this book has been a target of censorship, due to its apparent promotion of 'secular humanism'. If I were accused of such a trait, I would proudly wear it on my sleeve.
